University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) is a young university. From its foundation (1985),
UCLM has grown at a high rate, attracting qualified human resources and providing the people in the
region with high education skills. UCLM integrates 36 academic departments offering 45 degree qualifications. Moreover, promoting collaborations between industry and academia and favoring the
dissemination of technological advances are part of our University’s missions, demonstrating the strong commitment that UCLM has with the productive sectors of the region. The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office is the structure within the University that strongly collaborates in this task. A total of 17 R&D contracts were managed under the 6th Framework Programme (FP6), 36 approved projects under FP7 and CIP, as well as 11 H2020 granted projects, not to mention other European and international programmes such as Interreg, JPEN, LIFE programme or COST, inter alia, all of which are managed under supervision and collaboration of the European Projects Office at UCLM.

The Informatics Research Institute of Albacete (I3A), opened its doors in March 2005. Since then he has devoted much of his activity to participate in a wide variety of research projects, development and innovation, thus leading to the transfer of research results to the productive sector
at both national and European level. During its first five years, research projects and innovation of I3A have been experiencing dramatic growth, reaching in 2009 nearly two million euros. The important increase in funding through projects with companies, from just over 50,000 euros,
representing 5.5% of the funding received by the institute, more than 760,000 euros, 40% funding I3A total for the year 2009. This increased activity has resulted I3A turn into a major increase in
human resources with which the Institute has: more than 100 researchers and scholars to this day. Two factors have contributed to this success: the consolidation of various groups that make up the I3A that has been rewarded by obtaining highly competitive calls for projects in both the national and European level, and increasing participation more young researchers trained in the doctoral
program.
